If you haven’t seen the movie Inception it is a must watch for every movie lover. The film stars world famous actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page and Tom Hardy. The film is about a thief played by Leonardo who steals secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology. Essentially, he runs a team with Joseph, Ellen, and Tom and they work together on inducing their subject into a deep sleep where they then enter this dream state and create the world the subject sees in their dream. In this dream-state anything can happen, and they work together on how to steal information that is deep in the subconscious of their subject. The opening scene is exactly this and you later discover that it was all test. A very wealthy CEO had hired Leonardo and his team to extract information from him in order to see if they actually are the best. This CEO, known as Sato, later tells Leonardo he and his team have failed but right before they part ways he asks him if it possible to plant an idea in someone’s mind using this technology. Leonardo tells him it is possible but very difficult to do as a person knows when something isn’t their own original idea. The reason why Sato asks this is because the owner of competing firm in the same industry is about to pass away. All of his ownership would then transfer to his son and that company is in position to overtake the industry. Sato wants Leonardo to implant the idea of breaking up the company into the heir’s son. It is hinted that if Leonardo does this and accomplishes it Sato would pull some strings that would allow Leonardo to return to the United States and see his kids. The reason why he can’t at the moment is still hidden from the viewer which builds suspense in this film. Leonardo and his team work on this plan and ultimately come up with the idea of creating a dream within dream within a dream to implant this idea. As they work together on accomplishing this goal, the viewer starts to uncover Leonardo’s past with his wife and how they together reached Limbo which is the last dream state where they lived for a very long-time. There the both of them created the world they wanted as Gods drawing their dreamworld from places in their past blurring the line between reality and dreams. The only way one can return to reality from the dream-state is dying. Ultimately, Leonardo tried to convince his wife that it was time to go back but she was too immersed in the dream world. So, what he did was plant an idea in her head that the world they were living in wasn’t real and the only way to get back to their kids was to kill themselves. Once they came back to reality that idea though had stuck with her and she comes up with a plot to kill herself but at the same time sabotage Leonardo saying that he was responsible for her death in order for him to kill himself with her. At this moment the viewer understands now how Leonardo knew it was possible to implant an idea and the reason why he couldn’t go back to the United States. Through the use of cameras and multiple point of views and dreams with in dreams the viewer becomes lost in what is reality and what is a dream but ultimately the movie ends with Leonardo coming home and seeing his kids but it is up to the viewer to comprehend whether it was a dream or reality. This film is one of the few I’ve seen that really blows your mind and make you think a lot, maybe we are living in a dream world?
